The custodian of the Nora finds and the history of the area

Boggio battery

General description

The Giovanni Patroni Municipal Archaeological Museum houses artifacts from the excavations at Nora and the Pula area. It is a key point of reference for understanding the historical evolution of the area, from the Phoenician-Punic era to the Roman era and beyond.

Historical notes and collections

  • The museum is housed in a historic building in the centre of Pula and is dedicated to the memory of the scholar Giovanni Patroni.

  • The collections include ceramics, inscriptions, votive finds, architectural elements and materials from the Punic tophet.

  • A specific section is dedicated to underwater recoveries, with amphorae, anchors and ceramics found on the seabed of the Bay of Nora.

Points of interest

  • Finds that tell the story of Nora's birth and development as a Mediterranean city.

  • Materials related to daily life, worship, funerary rites and the sacred sphere.

  • Historical and photographic documentation of the excavation phases and archaeological research in the area.

Digitalization and immersive content

The "Pula Digital Heritage" project uses advanced 3D scanning, photogrammetry, and digital modeling technologies to document the area's historical, archaeological, and landscape sites.

Digital models and immersive content allow you to explore heritage even remotely, offering an experience accessible to all and supporting research, dissemination and education activities.

The virtual visits and immersive itineraries are collected in a single digital platform, which allows you to explore the project's digitized sites in an integrated way.
