Nature, archaeology and military memory on the Pula promontory

General description
Santa Vittoria Park extends across a hill covered in Mediterranean scrub and is a site of great scenic and historical interest. On the promontory is the Boggio anti-ship battery, a military complex built in the 1930s as part of the defense system of the Gulf of Cagliari. Today, the park offers a circular trail past bunkers, emplacements, and artillery positions with views of the entire coast.
Historical notes
The battery was built in the 1930s to monitor British naval movements between Gibraltar and Malta.
It was equipped with four cannons and was part of a coordinated system of towers and batteries that defended access to the Gulf of Cagliari.
The positions comprised circular concrete emplacements camouflaged in the rock, connected by tunnels and protected walkways.
Points of interest

Digitalization and immersive content
The "Pula Digital Heritage" project uses advanced 3D scanning, photogrammetry, and digital modeling technologies to document the area's historical, archaeological, and landscape sites.
Digital models and immersive content allow you to explore heritage even remotely, offering an experience accessible to all and supporting research, dissemination and education activities.
The virtual visits and immersive itineraries are collected in a single digital platform, which allows you to explore the project's digitized sites in an integrated way.
